If you want to be able to collect your data from an SAA remotely, you will need to install an earth station. Components in the earth station will vary depending on the number and types of instruments you need to monitor. Earth stations can be designed and assembled by Measurand, or if you prefer, you can do this yourself.


Measurand designed earth stations contain a Campbell Scientific CR-series data logger (CR1000, CR800, CR300, or CR6), SAA232 logger interface modules, and a regulator for a solar panel or other source of 12V power. Other possible components include, vibrating wire interfaces, multiplexers, and modems (cellular, wireless, or satellite). These components are housed in a NEMA 4 rated enclosure.


Typically the logger and instruments are powered using a battery, housed in a NEMA 3R rated enclosure. The battery is charged using a solar panel and regulator. Contact Measurand for solar panel and battery recommendations.
